HNU holds a Groundbreaking Ceremony for its New Facility Center for Marine Sciences and Coastal Management Studies in Virgen, Anda, Bohol

Bohol is considered as one of the provinces in our country with high marine biodiversity. This is hardly surprising because Bohol conjures images of pristine beaches and captivating dive sites. Bohol also has Danajon Bank a double-barrier coral reef located in the northern part of Bohol which is the only double barrier reef in the country and one of the six in the whole world. We also have vast vegetation of mangroves. This makes the island province a tropical haven for tourists.

Thus, this urges the Holy Name University to build a facility that will provide a venue for advance inter-disciplinary research and relevant applied services to the local community and the province of Bohol.

Today is the groundbreaking ceremony that marks the commencement of the construction of the Holy Name University-Center for Marine Sciences and Coastal Management Studies (HNU-CMS CMS) Facility.

The facility has accommodation, a laboratory for researchers and a conference room that will also be used for future exchanges of scientific ideas through meetings and conferences. Through this, HNU will expand their horizon through collaboration with different scientists within and outside the country.

The Center's vision is to become the lead center for Marine Sciences in the province and beyond. Their mission is to provide a venue for research, personnel, and collaboration to local and international partners. To be of service to Boholanos by serving scientific knowledge that is relevant, promote sustainability and preservation of natural resources in the province.
