The Coastal Resource Management (CRM) Division of the Bohol Provincial Environment Management Office conducted a Marine Protected Area (MPA) management council reorganization and strategic planning workshop for DUGJAN (Duero, Guindulman, Jagna, and Anda) MPA Network together with the technical staff of the composing LGUs of the DUGJAN MPA Network, CMEMP Tagbilaran of DENR-CENRO Tagbilaran, and DENR-CENRO Talibon, and BFAR 7 - Bohol Provincial Fishery Office last November 11-23, 2022.
The activity aims to strengthen MPA management by reorganizing MPA Management Councils and developing a three-year MPA plan through strategic planning workshops in order to have effective and sustainable management of their MPAs.
The DUGJAN MPA Network allows component municipalities to manage the marine environment in a collaborative manner to increase marine biodiversity in order to provide sustainable food security to the communities in the DUGJAN area. The Municipal Mayors of Duero, Guindulman, Jagna, and Anda are all committed and swore to formulate and implement programs to effectively manage their Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) under the authority of the signed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) last September 28, 2022, at the Bohol Provincial Capitol in Tagbilaran City.
BPEMO is also organizing an MPA Management Council Reorganization and Strategic Planning Workshop in Jagna on December 6-7, 2022.
