Last December 9, 2022, the Coastal Resource Management (CRM) staff of the Bohol Provincial Environment Management Office (BPEMO) together with the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) of LGU Panglao facilitated the Marine Protected Area (MPA) reorganization and formulation of the MPA Strategic Plan for Bil-isan Marine Sanctuary in Bil-isan, Panglao, Bohol.
The activity aims to re-organize the MPA Management Council of Bil-isan Marine Sanctuary tasked to manage the MPA. The participants voted for Hon. Joseph Bompat, Punong Barangay of Bil-isan, and the vice chairman was the PO President of Nagkahiusang Mananagat sa Bil-isan. They identified different members of the various committees such as the Law Enforcement Committee, Ways and Means Committee, Ecotourism Committee, Monitoring and Evaluation Committee, and IEC Committee. They were also able to create a 3-year management plan for Bil-isan Marine Sanctuary.
Effective management of our protected areas is one of the effective strategies for marine biodiversity conservation and protection of our rich marine ecosystem.
