RED TIDE ALERT Still Raised In The Coastal Waters of the Municipality of Dauis and Tagbilaran City

Based on the Shellfish Bulletin No. 24 Series of 2022 issued by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) on December 9, 2022, coastal waters of Dauis and Tagbilaran City, as well as other municipalities declared as red tide areas  throughout the country, are still positive for Paralytic Shellfish Poison (PSP) or toxic red tide.

Consumers are reminded that shellfish of all kinds and Acetes sp. or alamang harvested from the indicated areas are not safe for human consumption. Fish, squids, shrimp, and crabs, on the other hand, are safe for human consumption if they are fresh and thoroughly washed, and internal organs such as gills and intestines are removed before cooking.

Shellfishes were collected and tested from the coastal waters of Milagros in Masbate; Sapian Bay (Ivisan Sapian), coastal waters of Roxas City, Panay, President Roxas, and Pilar in Capiz; coastal waters of Dau and Tagbilaran City in Bohol; Irong-irong, and San Pedro Bays in Samar; Dumanquillas Bay in Zamboanga del Sur; and Lianga Bay in Surigao del Sur are STILL POSITIVE for Paralytic Shellfish Poison (PSP) or toxic red tide th is beyond the regulatory limit.
All types of shellfish and Acetes sp. or alamang gathered from the areas shown are NOT SAFE for human consumption.

Fish, squids, shrimps, and crabs are safe for human consumption provided that they are fresh and washed thoroughly, and internal organs such as gills and intestines are removed before cooking.
