The divers from Bohol Provincial Environment Management Office (BPEMO), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), DENR-CENRO Tagbilaran, and PNP Bohol Police Provincial Office (PNP-BPPO) with the assistance of the Local Government Unit of Calape conducted an underwater biophysical assessment and seagrass assessment in nine (9) Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) of Calape, Bohol on December 5-7,2022.
The activity aims to determine the present conditions of the seagrass areas, coral reef areas, reef-associated fishes, and macro-benthic invertebrates.
The results of the assessment will be the basis for the formulation of MPA Management Plans, and the reactivation of the MPA Management Councils for the 9 MPAs in the municipality.
The formulated MPA Management Plans of the 9 MPAs will be incorporated into the Coastal Resource Management (CRM) Plan of the municipality.
