The International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) Day is a global environmental event that unites people all over the world annually to clean their country’s respective coastlines. This year’s ICC with the Theme:” Fighting for Trash Free Seas ” is set on September 18, 2021.
Considering the global Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic and the Province of Bohol is under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) that requires us to limit social contact and avoid mass gatherings, Local Government Units (municipal/barangay) may initiate clean-up thru individual households by cleaning their respective surroundings, or small scale and physical-distant clean-up in the community.
All interested groups or organizations are requested to coordinate directly with the respective Ecological Solid Waste Management (ESWM) Focal Person of your municipality of choice for area assignment and proper disposal of collected trash/garbage. Please require volunteers to always follow health and safety protocols by wearing masks and gloves and monitoring health before initiating the clean-up. Washing of hands and arms with soap and water for 20 seconds after clean-up is encouraged.
After the clean-up, please submit the forms to the ESWM Focal Persons of the municipality of your chosen clean-up site.
For further queries hereon, please feel free to get in touch with the GO-BEMO, G/F Bohol Provincial Capitol, Tagbilaran City and look for Ms. Villa Pelindingue, CRM Division Head with Mobile No. 09502810154 or telephone number 411-0138 local 41011.
We remain optimistic that despite this pandemic we continue to make an in our advocacy of a clean and healthy ocean.
God bless and stay safe.
